Round 2: Shatner does Palin’s Tweets

Does President Obama want to kill old people?

No.

Next vexing question.

Stargate Universe Trailer

I have a huge man-crush on Robert Carlyle. Knowing what a super fantastic bloke he is when we worked together on 51st I was gobsmacked when I heard that he was to collide with one of my geeky pleasures. He stars in the new Stargate spin-off, Stargate Universe. Hoo-ha!

If you’re reading this on Myspace…

Just a quick note to readers on Myspace. You may be wondering why I have MySpace comments disabled. Don’t be offended there’s a good reason. My sanity. Let me explain.

Myspace is where I first started blogging, but over time I found that the system didn’t allow me to do things I really wanted to do with blogging. That’s why my own site evolved into a blogging platform rather than a static website. So I moved over there and poked my head around the MySpace door once in a while. But it was impossible to keep two blogs going and get any writing done or even have a life, so Myspace fell by the wayside.

Well, now I’ve found this nifty plug-in that copies my posts directly over to my old MySpace blog (and other sites if I elect to do it.) I think it’s great. But the downside is that I don’t have time to run back and forth following two different conversation threads. So if you want to comment, you’re more then welcome to come over here, but I totally understand if that’s just a pain in the backside when you’re in full MySpace reading mode. Hope the posts are of some enjoyment and that you’re all well.

Jed Lewison breaks down the numbers

Illuminating stuff. Not exactly democracy in action is it?

Votes for seats held by GOP filibuster supporters: 44.2 million
Votes for seats held by Dems who may filibuster: 2.5 million
Votes for seats held by Dems who would support cloture: 79.8 million
Obviously, there’s a ton of ways you can slice numbers, but this analysis yields a fairly salient factoid: nearly twice as many people voted for senators likely to support a cloture motion than voted for a senator who is likely to thwart health care reform with a filibuster.

Moreover, the two Democratic Senators leading the charge against a public option — Kent Conrad and Max Baucus — have received fewer votes combined (498,345) than 41 Democratic senators have received on their own. Indeed, Kent Conrad — with 150,146 votes in his last election — received fewer votes than any other member in the caucus.

Conrad actually received just 0.1% of all votes cast for current Senators (or their predecessors, if they were appointed).
