   I immediately started thinking about how cultures would have developed and the impact on religion and mythology.

   The other big thing is what happens to the areas that are in ring shadow? Is there an area that’s always in darkness? And what’s life like there?

   The ring plane would always have the same orientation with respect to the tilt of the Earth and the plane of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.

   So if South America, for example, was in the daytime shadow during the winter they would not be so in the summer. During fall and spring they would see the rings edge on.
