Prince Caspian the Pretty Good

It may seem that all I do these days is go to the movies. This would not be accurate. What I do a lot of is work on my new novels (plural) at a library that is one block from a movie theater. So once a week I take a day off early to catch a fick.

Why don’t I work at home? Eh, change of scenery helps. I can only sit in so many coffee shops and so the library has me for now.

The first Narnia movie was pretty good. Not as good as the book, but fun. Prince Caspian is pretty darn good too. The night time raid on the fortress was stellar! However, the movie had some problems story wise, and the performance of one particular actor (who shall remain nameless) was so limp-wristed, I cringed. As Seinfeld would say, not that there’s anything wrong with that. The point is it didn’t suit the part and took me out of the movie.

Whatever you do though, don’t blame the movie for hitting you over the head with all the Christian subtext. That’s the whole point of the books, so the film does stay true to that aspect.

If you enjoyed the first one, this is more of the same, with virtually identical strengths and weaknesses. If you didn’t like the first one, this won’t make you any happier.

  1. Who was limp-wristed? I really didn’t notice any actor like that. At least give me a hint.

  2. [...] Stel Pavlou thought that the film was very good.  He espeically liked one of the battle scenes.  He agreed with many others that the movie’s storyline had problems.  He feels that the Christian message is there, all right, just as in the book. [...]

I enjoyed the movie alot. It did seem as though there were a few things between the first and second movies that went unexplained. I would have been okay with losing a battle scene or two in favor of more charactor development. However, with all that said I did enjoy it very much. It lived up to my expectations anyway.
